Recently I wrote about the increasing vulnerabilities in BIOS/UEFI underneath the operating system and encouraging you to update your devices to current BIOS levels. We have been notified of a vulnerability in select HPE BIOS. If you have HPE endpoints, please read the attached notice.
We have all heard the story of the Trojan Horse. The Greeks built it and left it in front of Troy. The Greek army left. The Trojans went outside the gates and wheeled it into the city. At night the Greek version of Special Forces jumped out and destroyed Troy.
Over the past few years, we have been recommending the use of switch stacks in all your MDF and IDF locations. This has been done to aid in simplifying switch management, but it has led to some confusion from time to time when someone is physically working in one of the network closets.
As we approach the holiday break it is time once again to remember some basic maintenance that should be done. On a day where there isn’t any bad weather predicted and there have been no power outages I want you to calibrate all your UPSes. Calibration allows an APC Smart UPS to re-evaluate itself.

CSI is pleased to announce that on Thursday, May 3rd from 8:30-4pm we will be hosting HPE Nimble in an all-day event. In the morning Nimble will overview their advanced storage solutions:
“Configuring and Managing APC UPSes” was held on Tuesday, April 3rd at 10:30 am. One of the most valuable items in your data center and your network closets are your APC UPSes. Scott walked through a live demo of how he normally configures UPSes to provide maximum stability and reporting.
One area of security we often overlook is that of the servers themselves. Most of our servers have some sort of remote access card built into them to provide remote access in case the server is hung up as well as to provide enhanced alerting of hardware errors.
CSI is pleased to announce we are now a Nimble storage partner. We are also excited to be on the NYS contract PM20930 There is a critical need for low cost, high speed, expandable, reliable storage. Nimble provides a high quality alternative to other enterprise class storage vendors while “future-proofing” due to its modular design.
We are excited to be hosting two additional vendor informational seminar events in our office. Tuesday November 15th 9:30-12pm – Cisco Security Wednesday December 7th 9-12pm – Nimble Storage Solutions We will post complete details for each event shortly, but we wanted to make sure you knew they were added onto our calendar.
