CSI’s Tech Talk-Wednesday, April 17th [IN PERSON] Save your seat today!

We are pleased to announce our upcoming Tech Talk/SYSOP will be IN PERSON on Wednesday, April 17th! This is the first in-person Tech Talk since the pandemic and we are looking forward to seeing you all there!

We encourage you to join Bob Knapp, Scott Quimby, and members of the CSI engineering team in person as they lead discussions of various topics including:

  • Practical considerations for planning future network upgrades:
    Access points - Wi-Fi 6, 6E and 7
The future of PoE switching and uplinks
Implications for UPS and WC power/cooling
Future data cabling planning - fiber & copper
  • A look at Cloud-Monitored Catalyst switching
What we know about the evolution to Cloud-Managed
  • Linux Fundamentals
Basic Linux commands for Windows Admins including File System Hierarchy
  • Local Administrator Password Service (LAPS)
Control and manage local administrator passwords to prevent "pass the hash" attacks.
  • Tech Tidbits
There is a lot that has gone on since our last meeting Scott will share the latest technical and security information.
  • Google Bulk Mail Status Update
We are now on the other side of Google's newly imposed bulk email guidelines. Some of the more subtle aspects of these guidelines have now come to light. The bottom line is no matter how pristine your mass communication provider is, you are probably caught up in this issue. We are increasing pain and erratic email delivery from many districts. We will talk about what is going on and what you can do about it.
  • Living Through A Security Event
Unfortunately, Scott's email of 12/22/23 on threat actors loving holidays to attempt to do bad things to you has proven to be 100% accurate. There are a few of you that had some rather significant security events. Living through active threats inside the network there were some similarities between the events and some lessons to be learned. Experiencing an active attack is much different than talking about it. You suddenly get clarity on what is important at that moment as to what is important to defend and protect the network and understand the nature of the attack. Scott will share some "big picture" observations of these events to help you be better prepared to defend against these attacks.
  • And More!

Date: Wednesday, April 17th
Time: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
Location: Hyatt House | 100 Westage Business Center Drive | Fishkill, NY
